2020 Honda CR-V – What to expect from the new model

Honda CR-V, a car specifically designed keeping families in mind, was launched in the1990s. Since then, its popularity has only increased with time. It is especially popular with large families who travel together and prefer a car that does not burn a lot of fuel. It has continued to remain one of the most in-demand crossover cars around. It has vastly helped its parent company establish itself as a leader in this particular segment.

Since the car recently had an upgrade, let us look at the new features the 2020 Honda CR-V offers.

What’s new in the latest 2020 Honda CR-V?

Every year, Honda makes some minor but prominent improvements in the car’s look and styling. The 2020 Honda CR-V model offers a hybrid powertrain consisting of two electric motors and a four-cylinder engine. The turbocharged engine, which has a capacity of 1.5 liters, was an optional device on the previous models but now comes as a standard device on non-hybrid CR-Vs. There is a suite containing driver assistant features. These features include lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and pedestrian detection.

The look

The 2020 Honda CR-V model definitely has a more appealing look than its predecessor. There is a new blackout grille, and the fog lights have much broader openings. The rear end, just like the front end, boasts of a sophisticated look. There are taillight lenses with a dark tint, a tinted rear glass, and a dark chrome tailgate. The EX and EX-L trims are equipped with 18-inch wheels, which are layered with a dark greyish tone. The touring trims are laced with chrome exhaust finishers. This time around, this vehicle comes in three color variants.

The interiors are equally appealing, if not more. The center console, which boasts of a fresh design, is very easy to use. You get plenty of storage options here. The CR-V Touring trims come armed with a Qi-compatible phone charging device. There is a 7-inch wide touch-enabled Audio interface, which has Android Auto Integration and Apple CarPlay, Satellite linked Navigation System, and a TFT driver information interface. Apart from these, you get USB charging ports at the back, dual-zone climate control, remote engine start, and an Electric Parking Brake. As this car is designed for families, it comes armed with several interesting in-car entertainment facilities. The Base LX models feature a 5.0-inch radio screen, too.

Performance

Honda did a smart thing by putting the turbocharged engine in the 2020 Honda CR-V. Another good thing it did was to pair it up with one of the most efficient continuously variable automatic transmissions in the market. Though the vehicle’s towing limit is a little less, it offers a graceful drive, a placid steering wheel, and a powerful braking system. The car works equally well for traveling across short and long distances. The pedal is responsive and one of the best-oiled components of the car. The engine is fueled by two electric motors and a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine.
