5 Things to Expect From Samsung Galaxy S24
Want to know what Samsung’s next highly-anticipated phone might look like? Considering that the Samsung Galaxy S23 came out in February 2023, one can expect S24 to hit the market soon. As its predecessor is considered one of the best Android phones in the market, it is normal to expect big things from S24. Based on things experts and analysts have learned about the brand’s plans, here is what to expect from Samsung Galaxy S24:
1. Models to expect
Samsung’s S series constantly pushes boundaries when it comes to performance, camera, and battery life. The Galaxy S24 is expected to do the same. While earlier, the brand was rumored to drop the Plus model from the S24 lineup, Samsung might just stick to the previous 3-variant format and launch the base Samsung Galaxy S24, Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, and Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.
2. Display modifications
The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is likely to have similar display features as the S23. This means one can expect the base variant, i.e., Galaxy S24, to have a 6.1-inch display, the Galaxy S24 Plus to be equipped with a 6.6-inch screen, and the Galaxy S24 Ultra with a 6.8-inch screen. Like the previous generation smartphone, one can expect the standard S24 model to come with a 120 Hz AMOLED display with a resolution of 2340×1080 pixels. The Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus and Ultra might sport the dynamic AMOLED 2X panel with a refresh rate of 144Hz. Additionally, Samsung could drop the curved display on S24 Ultra for a flat-panel look.
3. Changes in the design
Samsung is expected to use a mix of Snapdragon and its own Exynos 2400 chipset in the Galaxy S24. Certain versions of the S23 might use Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chips to enhance performance and make the phone faster and smoother. All models may offer 8GB RAM; however, this could go up to 16 GB. Reports also suggest that the Ultra variant may be powered by an octa-core chipset with a CPU configuration of 1+3+2+2, with the prime CPU core achieving a maximum speed of 3.30GHz. Industry experts predict that the Qualcomm and Samsung deal could bring the best and smoothest user experience of the S series. The memory capacities of the base variant and Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus could stay the same, but the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra may be expanded to 2TB, twice that of the previous generation model. Additionally, its 256GB model might come with 12GB RAM and an M13 OLED display. However, the Ultra model could start at 256 GB instead of 128 GB.
4. Camera upgrades
The Samsung Galaxy S24 phones may offer similar camera specs as its predecessor, i.e., a 200MP main camera, 12MP Ultra-wide camera, 10MP 3x telephoto, and a 10MP 10x telephoto. Some sources say that the Samsung Galaxy S24 and Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus might have a 1-inch sensor, which is likely to improve low-light shots and enhance dynamic range. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra is expected to have the best low-light performance ever, with 100x digital zoom capabilities.
5. Battery upgrades
With respect to battery capacity, Samsung could offer upgrades like a 4,000mAh battery in the base model, a 4,900mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus, and a 5,000mAh battery in the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra. The charging type is likely to be Type C, as usual. One improvement that many are hoping for is faster charging; however, the capacity for the Plus models might be the same as the S23 Plus, i.e., 45W. The base version might still come with a 25W charging capacity.
Cost
Samsung has been consistent with the pricing of the S series over the last few years. Based on this fact, one can expect the standard model, Samsung Galaxy S24, to sell for a starting price of $799, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Plus to cost $999, and the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra to be priced at $1,199. However, a $50 to $200 price jump might be on the table, depending on the extent of upgrades to the phone.
One should explore all three variants of the Samsung Galaxy S24 and consider individual requirements and budget to choose the most suitable model.
